Way back in the year, Mike suggested we cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End in July and, like a mug, I agreed! Fortunately, Paul, Josh and Billy have also agreed and on the 8th July, we head up to Scotland on a sleeper train to start the journey on Saturday afternoon.
As if 1,000 miles isn’t enough, I thought I’d make it a bit more ”interesting” and attempt it on a 25 year old bike!
Here she is…a 1986 Raleigh Milk Race! 5 speed, double chain ring, solid plastic saddle!
I’ve replaced the tyres and put the chain in to soak overnight! We’ll see how she cleans up over the next few days and how she rides!
This blog is to keep people informed of our progress and to confirm that we do make the scheduled stops along the way!
At the moment, most of the planning is done. Hotels and Hostels are all booked (except one night), the route is planned and bikes have been bought/adjusted. We’ve all had varying levels of training for this, but it’s not a race so should be a fun 11 days!
